Sunflower Project

My introduction to motion graphics was in high school when I took a class that tough us how to use Adobe After Effects. Our final project in this class was to choose about 30 seconds of the song and use kinetic typography principles to animate the lyrics in an interesting way. I choose to animate the first 30 seconds of the song Sunflower by Post Malone and Swae Lee, which was made for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse movie. I animated some of the words to act out their meaning, such as the word “tilt” becoming tilted as it appears, and used colors and images to fit the theme of the song.

I had so much fun making this project and I hoped to continue it someday, and eventually I got my wish. I had taken another motion graphics class here in college, and we were pretty much allowed total freedom for our final projects so I decided to challenge myself to animate the next 30 seconds of the song with all the new things I learned how to do in class, such as 3D letters and lighting.

I hope you’ll love the results of this project just as much as I loved making it, so please enjoy!
